Rugged system switches
MilDef SSW Family rugged system switches support timing, synchronization and USB signal control in tactical systems. The family includes compact 19”/2® products for network time services, USB matrix switching and platform-level system integration in demanding defense environments

MilDef rugged system switches help customers add timing and control functions to tactical IT systems. The SSW Family supports applications where network synchronization, USB routing and compact platform integration are important. In addition, the products help connect and coordinate system functions in vehicles, shelters, racks and deployed environments.
SSW500 Series provides rugged NTP time server capability for accurate network synchronization. As a result, customers can support NTP and SNTP-compatible systems with GPS or GNSS reference options, PPS and NMEA interfaces and rugged timing hardware. Meanwhile, SSW2100 Series provides USB matrix switching for systems that need flexible routing between USB inputs and outputs.
Together, the SSW Family supports system-level functions that sit between computing, network and operator equipment. Therefore, customers can integrate timing, synchronization and USB control without relying on less rugged commercial devices. The family supports tactical systems where compact form factor, passive cooling and long-term availability matter.
Rugged NTP time server capability helps synchronize tactical networks and connected systems.
USB routing supports flexible connection between multiple USB inputs and outputs in tactical operator setups.
Compact form factor, rugged design and passive cooling support vehicles, shelters, racks and deployed systems
The SSW Family includes rugged system switch series for different timing and control needs. SSW500 Series supports NTP time synchronization for tactical networks. SSW2100 Series supports USB matrix switching for flexible input and output routing in integrated defense systems.
Rugged USB matrix switching for tactical systems
The SSW2100 Series provides rugged USB matrix switching for tactical systems where flexible USB routing is required. The SSW2101 allows any combination of USB inputs to be connected to any combination of USB outputs at any given time. Built in MilDef’s compact 19”/2® form factor, the unit combines rugged MIL connectors, NVIS Class B LEDs, passive cooling and flexible mounting for demanding platform integration. It operates down to -40 °C and supports reliable use in harsh military environments.
Key features:
Rugged NTP time server for tactical network synchronization
The SSW500 Series provides rugged NTP time synchronization for demanding tactical and military network environments. Based on Meinberg LANTIME technology, the SSW502 supports NTP- and SNTP-compatible systems and uses a built-in ultra-stable oscillator as its primary reference time source. It supports GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and BeiDou, together with PPS and NMEA interfaces, web-based management and remote administration via Telnet or SSH. Built in MilDef’s compact 19”/2® form factor, the series also supports flexible mounting and long-lifecycle defense programs.
Key features:
Rugged serial port replicator for compact 19”/2® platform integration
The SSW6100 Series provides rugged serial port replication for tactical platforms, vehicle systems and other space-constrained integration scenarios. Based on the Moxa NPort® 5450 serial device server, the SSW6101 provides three serial interfaces and one 100BASE-TX Ethernet interface in MilDef’s compact 19”/2® form factor. The unit supports flexible mounting in standard 19” racks, half racks or directly onto a surface at any angle. In addition, 12–36 VDC input, MIL-STD-1275E compliance, passive cooling and low power consumption support reliable operation in demanding defense environments.
